It took a while, but with the snow that is falling as I type this, we’ll have more great skiing at the Reforestation camp. In spite of the thin snow cover, the trails held snow and have been open every day after being closed for a couple of days following the early January rain. Yes, there were some icy spots, and yes, some sections suffered from excess pine needles, oak leaves, and pine cones (not to mention the occasional bare spot). Still, it was great to be out in the woods using my skis. The lights are on every night (they are controlled by a timer). Last night they came on at about 5:15 as I skied.
The Masters program ski lessons kicked off on Monday January 21. We’ll be having another lesson (both skating and classic) next Monday, January 28. We’ll try to schedule the third lesson if the coaches are available. Our Wax and pizza night is tonight (Wednesday, January 23), rescheduled from its original date of January 9.
We’re planning on having the lodge open as per the schedule posted at http://baynordic.org/adult-event-calendar/ We are only permitted to open the lodge if the trails are open. If in doubt, check the county’s website here for the latest trail status.
