Job Title: Executive Director/Coordinator (Part-time)

Compensation: $15,000 annually (part-time, no health insurance or paid leave benefits)

About Bay Nordic:

Bay Nordic supports the Nordic ski community in Northeast Wisconsin, emphasizing an active lifestyle for youth, families, and individuals. With more than 200 participants across three core programs—Youth Program (ages 3-12), Jr Team (MS/HS), and Adult Program—Bay Nordic plays a significant role in promoting fitness and community engagement. The club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, governed by an 11-member board.

Position Overview:

Bay Nordic seeks a dynamic Executive Director/Coordinator to support the club’s programs, strengthen community outreach, lead fundraising efforts, and guide the strategic development of the organization. This role will play a key part in enhancing the visibility and impact of Bay Nordic within the Northeast Wisconsin community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the long-term vision and strategy for Bay Nordic, ensuring that the organization continues to grow and evolve.
  • Fundraising & Development: Lead fundraising initiatives; identify and pursue donor, sponsor, and grant opportunities. Engage board members and club participants in supporting these efforts.
  • Program Support: Collaborate with and support program directors and coaches to ensure smooth execution of all programs.  This includes ensuring fair and competitive financial support of coaches and the development of processes to identify and recruit the transition to successor program directors and coaches. 
  • Liaison to Brown County Parks Department: Serve as the primary point of contact, coordinating facility usage and conveying Bay Nordic’s interests to the county.
  • Community Engagement: Act as the public face of Bay Nordic, fostering relationships with community organizations, partners, and media outlets to raise awareness and build support.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit and manage volunteers for club events, special projects, and day-to-day operational needs. This includes managing volunteer positions such as digital manager, newsletter contributors, event organizers, and equipment managers.
  • Digital Presence Management: Oversee the website, email communications, and social media to ensure clear and consistent communication with members and the public.
  • Membership Management: Administer memberships in affiliated organizations such as the Wisconsin Nordic Ski League, CXC, US Ski & Snowboard Association, and SafeSport, ensuring compliance and engagement with these bodies.
  • Subcommittee & Special Project Oversight: Coordinate and support subcommittees and volunteers for specific programs and projects, such as event planning or facility development.
  • Board Support: Advise and support the Board of Directors in governance and decision-making processes. This includes development of relevant policies and ensuring that Bay Nordic meets financial and tax requirements of a non-profit.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit management, program coordination, or a similar role.
  • Proven success in fundraising, including grant writing, donor relations, and sponsorships.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in community outreach and partnership building.
  • Ability to manage volunteers and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with digital communication platforms, including website and social media management.
  • A passion for Nordic skiing and commitment to promoting an active, healthy lifestyle is highly preferred.

Working Hours:

This is a part-time position with flexible hours. The Executive Director/Coordinator is expected to attend key meetings and events, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required by the role.
